Best Hand Wash and Cleansers

Clean hands are more important than you may realise. We learn about cleaning our hands as a way to avoid germs making us sick, but did you know that dirty hands could also be causing your bad skin? Today, try to pay attention to how many times you touch your face. We do it subconsciously and it’s relatively harmless, unless you struggle with breakouts and blackheads.

Everytime we touch our face we transfer oils, germs and bacteria from our fingers to our fragile skin. When you have large, open pores the nasties you deliver to your skin will sit in there and make themselves at home. Avoiding this outcome can be as simple as having clean hands. Don’t worry though, clean hands can now be an enjoyable beauty experience as well because now we have some delectably hand cleansers to brighten things up. Here are some of the ones I’m currently using.  Continue Reading

Seraphina Organics Love Me Tender Hand Wash

The importance of organic doesn’t just relate to the food we eat, it’s just as important for the products we use. Organic grown ingredients and the reduction of synthetic chemicals means we are giving our skin the best possible chance to live in harmony with the earth. As the environment has become substantially more important to me in recent years I find myself looking for general use products that align with my values. Hand wash is one of my latest obsessions.

Seraphina Organics is a home-grown Australian certified organic beauty brand focused on creating products for ultra sensitive skin. I’ve been using their Love Me Tender Hand Wash through chilly weather and moving houses, so I’m ready to give my review.  Continue Reading

Allegra Rhodes Cherry Blossom Hand Wash Packaging

Hand wash is one of those beauty products that gets swept aside from the attention that we give other products like makeup and skincare, but it is actually important to have a hand wash that does more than clean your hands. When you think about it, isn’t hand wash the beauty product we possibly use the most? I would have to guess I wash my hands approximately 8 times each day which is far more than I use any other product.

I like my everyday hand wash to look nice on my bathroom vanity, clean my hands without stripping them of moisture and have a nice fragrance without being bombed by a flower. Can this Australian-made Cherry Blossom hand wash by Allegra Rhodes fill the brief? Read my review to find out.  Continue Reading

New Release Beauty Favourites May 2013

We are almost through May and it was another big one this month. The Plastic Diaries celebrated its 3rd birthday and we got a beautiful new facelift (with more enhancements to come!). We also saw a staggering 86 products go on sale including whole makeup collections, haircare lines and some sneaky nail innovations that was kept a well-guarded secret. So which were my faves? It was tough but I have narrowed them down. Continue Reading

Foaming hand soap is a new craze taking over our supermarket shelves and I am finding it rather intriguing. It seems the sensorial pleasure we associate with “foaming” beauty products is just becoming bigger as we have seen it in the past with hair dye, face cleansers and even foundation. Hand wash is may just be the next cab off the rank but I suspect we will eventually see a foam/mousse formula in nearly every beauty product category. Until then, let’s look at how the hand wash rates …. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
