Grace Choi Presents Mink 3D Makeup Printer

Could you imagine a high-tech world where we can print out our colour cosmetics just like we do currently with paper. Can you picture yourself snapping a photo, picking a colour you like and printing it out into an eyeshadow pan instead of forking out cash (or card in my case) to buy it from a retailer? It sounds like a fantasy but one young woman has presented her concept that could become a reality. Grace Choi, a graduate from Harvard Business School has publicly stated that the beauty industry is a bunch of “bulls#!t”. Choi says that we could all be DIY-ing our cosmetics and put an end to these big cosmetic companies. Is she right? Is she wrong?

Whether you have heard all about this story or not, I’m going to tell you why printing your own makeup is not going to be a reality for quite sometime, and I may never want it to be.  Continue Reading

As mentioned before, my major skin flaw is my super dark circles under my eyes. I am forever on the search for a product that will just make a slight improvement because I know clearing it completely would just be a miracle. I have seen every expert in Sydney and no one can tell me exactly why I have such dark circles but we have been able to narrow it down to two things, A. Its in my heritage to have hyper-pigmented skin below my eyes OR B. I have a Kidney problem.

Seeing as though I refuse to go see a doctor for anything that may involve a blood test, I personally have ruled out the Kidney problem. Continue Reading

I was always the type to think that I never needed a Magazine Subscription. I figure if I heard about it, or a cover took my fancy I would buy it at the time. Funnily enough every month the same magazines would peak my interest and I would buy them anyway. I eventually caught on to the fact Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
