Posts in Illesha Haywood

I want to start this post by saying a HUGE thank-you to the many wonderful people all over the world who have shown me such kindness and support since last Thursday, 7 June 2012. All the comments, emails, texts, tweets and Facebook messages have been heard and if I haven’t responded to you directly (which I am hoping I have) then please know I am forever appreciative for your time and care in this matter.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story jump back to my post which outlines the events preceding. Today I am going to update you because I owe it to you guys for helping me voice my unhappiness with the original situation.

After the story ran on Thursday evening, there was not much I could do other than put that post up. I knew that Friday would be my only chance to get some answers before majority of Australia began their long weekend. First thing that morning, I spoke with a publicist and lawyer for some advise before I began my journey to trying find out what happened. Why was I in it? Why were statements ‘taken’ from my site that never actually appeared? I just wanted some answers.  Continue Reading

One of my best shots. No really, I love it.....

A number of my lovely Australian readers alerted me tonight to a story that displayed my blog during a feature regarding Australian aesthetician, Dr Illesha Haywood from Paramedical Skin Clinic in Melbourne. As many of you would know, I did a review of the Jet Peel treatment way back in 2010 and it would seem that due to many of the comments I received on that post, it drew some attention when one of our national TV news programs were researching the good doctor.

I am writing this post for a few reasons, most of which is to have my say as I was never contacted by the network, the producer or the journalist investigating the story. Obviously I have no qualms with them displaying my blog, but what I do have problems with is that they highlighted certain statements that actually do not appear in the post or in the comments section AT ALL. In my mind, this is misrepresentation of my website and of me, and I want to have my say.

To start, let’s take a little look at the story that ran on the TV show, Today Tonight.

Last week I was lucky enough to be offered a chance to try out a new skin treatment called ‘Jet Peel’. I thought the name sounded awfully painful, like some sort of turbo charged jet engine filled with acid. Obviously thinking that made me a tad hesitant on whether to give it a go or not. Luckily my shallowness kicked in and told me to go for it. Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
