Last week we showed you the beauty sample box subscription services of Australia and the USA, and now it is time for the UK. In my opinion the UK offering of beauty box services are very similar to Australia, in that the services are very similar in what they offer and the way they work.

If you are new to beauty sample boxes, visit our Australia post to learn about what they are.

If you have a friend or family member that is vegetarian or vegan, you probably know how hard it is for them to go to a restaurant or just purchase something up without asking 10 questions. When it comes to Christmas presents, the difficulty is transferred to the gift givers. What on earth can you buy them?

Today’s holiday gift guide is just for those who are not sure what to get for a vegetarian or vegan. The brands included in this post all strive for an animal cruelty free world and they all have a very dear place in my heart because of it. Even if you aren’t buying a gift for a vegetarian/vegan, do consider these fabulous options.

This month we have not only a beauty treat, but an edible one too! *high five*

Officially this item was reviewed in May, but it was May 31 to be exact and it went live after our special May giveaway celebrating The Plastic Diaries 1st birthday. For that reason I felt this item deserved a place in the June Favourites. I mean, May 31 is practically June, right?

So what item am I talking about …… ?

Six little pots of magic

From the title alone you can probably guess what this item really is, but that will not stop me from rambling on about it excellence. Inika have done the greatest thing any make-up company could EVER do (in my opinion), and that is combine make-up with chocolate. Yes, yummy, fattening, indulgent chocolate. Why has it taken this long for someone to do it? Why? WHY?

Before I even got this item it was a no brainer that I would love it. You can’t put Limited Edition and Chocolate in a product name without me squealing like an infant. Plus, Inika is just an amazing Australian brand that makes you feel like you are doing something great for humanity. All their products are 100% Certified Organic or Vegan (or both!), and 100% Certified Halal and Cruelty Free.

What I Say ….

  • The packaging and attention to detail is just divine. The items come in a sturdy black gift box with an Inika ribbon and wax stamp on the lid. First thing you see when you open the box is a little card, which shows the colours of eyeshadow displayed just like you find chocolates inside a Lindt Praline box. The box is divided into 9 squares, 6 are eyeshadows and 3 are gold foil wrapped chocolates.
  • Each eyeshadow and chocolate is placed in a Continue Reading

There is no bigger headache in my life than storage issues. It goes for everything, from clothing to magazines, to food and dogs toys. The list never ends, but by far the biggest issue I have is beauty products. When you mix my love of collecting beauty products with my ability to hoard, you get one out of control collection.

For the past few weeks I have been in the process of moving into my new office (I kicked my dad out of his. Clearly my needs are more important) and it has been a challenge (there will be more posts on this, I guarantee!). The one thing that shook me a little is how I seem to take 5 or more toiletry/make-up bags every time I go away. It seems I never could find one to hold all the stuff I wanted, or separate it for easy access. That realisation led to a light bulb going off in my head …. it is time I start the hunt.

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
