Lace Fashion Trend

Lace doesn’t have to be all about girly, white a-line skirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I acknowledge my latest fascination with lace does come from my inner girly-girl who likes floral prints, lace trim and pink everything, but lace is so on-trend right now that you can wear it in a way that reflects your personal style, whatever that may be. The great thing with lace is that it adds an element of texture to an outfit. So, for example, let’s say you won’t wear anything but black clothes (hands up if that’s you!), adding a touch of lace with some vegan leather will make your outfit look more like Angelina Jolie and less like a M.A.C sales assistant.  Continue Reading

French Connection 2013 Fashion Haul

A few weeks ago I took a quick trip to Melbourne for a wedding. I was trying to only pack carry-on luggage but when I got to Sydney airport I noticed I had a serious lack of warm clothing to get through the chilly Melbourne weather. I had one satin blazer and it was barely holding up against the airport aircon. Luckily my plane was delayed for 30 minutes so I had some time to look around the handful of stores. French Connection caught my attention and I didn’t walk out empty handed.

Not only did my new buys come in use during my Melbourne trip but they have since been on high-rotation as my new fashion favourites. Want to see what I got?  Continue Reading

The Styleless Diaries full logo with diary

It has been a while since I last discussed the state of my wardrobe and sense of style. Fashion isn’t my thing and that is exactly why I created The Styleless Diaries. I kind of need to have a sense of style for my job as a beauty blogger because I go to lots of lovely events and meet with lots of people from brands and public relations agencies (all of which dress fabulously!), but it is such a foreign concept to me. How does one put together a fashionable outfit and not look like a mess?

Well, over the past year I have been trying REALLY hard to buy good, not-too-trendy pieces. Over the past 8 months I have been slowly culling my wardrobe of all the items I can’t/won’t/shouldn’t wear but it has left me with very little to wear … well that and the staggering amount of weight I have put on.

My goal during this time has been to rebuild a solid wardrobe containing classic, wearable pieces that make me look good no matter how they are styled. I wanted good quality items that will be versatile enough for any occasion. I think I did ok but I want to show you my recent purchases in hope you can help me. All of these were bought during 2012 and obviously before my new vegan lifestyle so there are some items I would definitely not purchase now, however, I feel like disposing of them would actually mean that the animals who gave to create those items were in vain. This is the reason I am not getting rid of any items I already own but I most definitely will not be buying any new animal product items moving forward.

Here they are, my latest fashion purchases:  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
