Best Websites To Book Travel

I’m a keen traveller but half the fun for me is deciding where to go, how to get there and what to do once I’m there. I like 5-star, luxury travel all the way but I’m also a bargain hunter by nature. These two personality traits combined can be a nightmare when booking a trip but doing it myself mens I have full control over what I select, and I can make sure I get the best possible price. I’m a travel agents worst nightmare. I want the very best of everything while saving every penny I can, so how do I get the vacation I want? I utilise a bunch of websites to find the best deals for flights, accomodation and activities. I’m sharing them with you in hopes it helps you to get out there and experience the world a little more.

There is so much to see and do in our short lifetime. Step out of your comfort zone and you’ll be amazed what you discover.  Continue Reading

NARS Madison Avenue NYC Store

NARS is expanding their empire by opening two more freestanding stores this month. The new retail spaces are hitting both the east and west coast of the USA, with a move that they hope will deepen the relationship with their makeup artist clientele. Even though I personally am not a makeup artist, I do find that a dedicated retail space for a brand allows me to shop more strategically instead of being overcome with excitement (like what I experience in Sephora) so I can understand why this make appeal more to a makeup artist.

Both stores were designed by Francois Nars (yep, the guy behind the brand) and Fabien Baron of New York design firm Baron & Baron. A consistent design has been implemented across the stores but each have incorporated their own twist by adapting features to fit the city and space. Those that have followed the NARS brand for some time (like me) will know that makeup is not Nars’ one true love – he’s a lover of all forms of art. His love for beautiful photography and books will be showcased in “François’ Favorite Things,”a section exclusive to the free-standing stores that offers an eclectic mix of objects that have inspired Mr Nars. All will be available for purchase and rotated quarterly.

These new stores could be a sign that NARS is looking to expand elsewhere (perhaps, Australia?!?) but for now we’ll take a closer look at what you’ll find in the new USA stores.  Continue Reading

Best of Beauty 2012 - 12 Survival Beauty Products

I probably couldn’t count the amount of beauty products I acquired in 2012. To be honest, I tried but I lost count after 1650 (wow, I feel sick but also very pleased with myself). So picking my absolute favourite go-to products from the new acquisitions and my already hefty stash of products wasn’t the easiest task. But I did it. Today I am going to share with you the 12 products I couldn’t get enough of in 2012. Make sure you tell me yours in the comments!  Continue Reading

A couple of weekends ago I was at the Sydney International Spa & Beauty doing my thing and browsing around to find all the exciting new beauty innovations coming our way. But then I got distracted ….. and hauled like a crazy lady. Previously, the International Spa & Beauty Expo, which is for the beauty trade only, did not have any sale opportunities. It was all about showcasing new treatments, products, tools and equipment and allowing the beauty industry to meet with the wholesalers/manufacturers directly to wheel and deal. Point of sale was all but extinct, in the past ….

This year, and from what I assume to be because of a tougher economic climate than previously, there were many brands giving people the chance to buy smaller quantities and a slightly discounted expo price (the average was about 10% discount off retail prices). I am all for this because it gives the industry a chance to try products before ordering big quantities and having to push it out into an already overcrowded market place. It also gave me a chance to pick up some things I had always wanted to try … and some items I definitely didn’t need but good luck trying to stop me from buying them. Here is what I grabbed over the weekend:  Continue Reading

For the longest time I have dreamt about Make Up For Ever opening a boutique in Australia. Well, my dream is one step closer because Australia has just received its very first Make Up For Ever store-within-a-store. If you have been to the select few Sephora locations, including one of my favourites Sephora at The Venetian in Las Vegas, you will have seen the impressive Make Up For Ever store-within-a-store concept. It is a bold, industrial-esque construction featuring hard metals, traincases and some of the best indoor lighting you could ever apply makeup with. Now you will find this concept in our very own backyard, right here in Sydney, Australia.

A while ago I told you about PM Studio, a cosmetics store in Sydney that has brought Make Up For Ever into the lives of some very grateful Australians. The great thing about PM Studio is they, like me, believe Make Up For Ever deserves to be heard in Australia. We all know MUFE is an amazing brand but very few realise that it is actually available here. Now we have our own MUFE boutique and boy does this mean some amazing things for Australian fans.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
