French Connection 2013 Fashion Haul

A few weeks ago I took a quick trip to Melbourne for a wedding. I was trying to only pack carry-on luggage but when I got to Sydney airport I noticed I had a serious lack of warm clothing to get through the chilly Melbourne weather. I had one satin blazer and it was barely holding up against the airport aircon. Luckily my plane was delayed for 30 minutes so I had some time to look around the handful of stores. French Connection caught my attention and I didn’t walk out empty handed.

Not only did my new buys come in use during my Melbourne trip but they have since been on high-rotation as my new fashion favourites. Want to see what I got?  Continue Reading

The leather trend is inescapable right now and it doesn’t look like it’s fading anytime soon. I’m probably the last one to get in on the action but as a vegan I’m careful with the fashion items I buy. In this day and age no one has to die for us to look good. I admit I was avoiding anything that looked remotely like leather because I didn’t know if I would’ve been tempted to buy something I really didn’t want to. A few weeks ago I discovered there was absolutely no reason to worry because the majority of items I was lusting after were actually made with vegan leather! I couldn’t believe how far the industry had come in making synthetic leather look like the real thing, feel like the real thing and last even better than the real thing.

I want to show you my new vegan leather purchases and I have created a wishlist of other items you would never believe use vegan leather as well. I am not just talking cheap, unknown brands. Big designer brands such as BCBGMAXAZRIA, M Missoni, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors are just a few who are now utilising vegan leather in their designs. YAY!  Continue Reading

Vegan Handbags

I have never been one to invest heavily in handbags. I always seem to trash my handbags pretty quickly, even though I try my hardest not to. It is strange because I can make a cheap pair of shoes last me 10 years but a $200 handbag doesn’t get me through 12 months. To clarify, I don’t trash them to the point that they are falling apart but I do manage to get them dirty, scuffed and somehow no amount of leather cleaner does the trick. Now that I am vegan, I am a little worried about how I will keep non-leather bags in top shape if I can’t do it with leather ones. Nevertheless, I am now obsessed with finding the perfect vegan handbag. Continue Reading

The Styleless Diaries full logo with diary

It has been a while since I last discussed the state of my wardrobe and sense of style. Fashion isn’t my thing and that is exactly why I created The Styleless Diaries. I kind of need to have a sense of style for my job as a beauty blogger because I go to lots of lovely events and meet with lots of people from brands and public relations agencies (all of which dress fabulously!), but it is such a foreign concept to me. How does one put together a fashionable outfit and not look like a mess?

Well, over the past year I have been trying REALLY hard to buy good, not-too-trendy pieces. Over the past 8 months I have been slowly culling my wardrobe of all the items I can’t/won’t/shouldn’t wear but it has left me with very little to wear … well that and the staggering amount of weight I have put on.

My goal during this time has been to rebuild a solid wardrobe containing classic, wearable pieces that make me look good no matter how they are styled. I wanted good quality items that will be versatile enough for any occasion. I think I did ok but I want to show you my recent purchases in hope you can help me. All of these were bought during 2012 and obviously before my new vegan lifestyle so there are some items I would definitely not purchase now, however, I feel like disposing of them would actually mean that the animals who gave to create those items were in vain. This is the reason I am not getting rid of any items I already own but I most definitely will not be buying any new animal product items moving forward.

Here they are, my latest fashion purchases:  Continue Reading

Peep Toe Shoes Box

I have been desperate for new shoes for the past 18months. It is hard to believe it has been that long since I really invested in a pair of shoes. Actually, I think I have only bought 1 pair in that entire time. You see, I have been trying to cull my wardrobe to only include things I truly need and actually wear, but shoes were my big problem. I have always been a collector of shoes and stopping the urge to buy a hundred pairs of shoes every month was the hardest thing I ever had to do. But after all that cleaning out I was left with a dozen or so shoes that look great but only 3 or so pairs were actually functional for day-to-day outings. I needed to buy a new pair of shoes and it wasn’t going to be easy.

Luck came my way at the end of last year when I won a $200 PeepToe gift card in a competition on Danimezza, which happens to be one of my favourite fashion blogs (even though Danielle mostly shows off plus-size fashion I still love her photography, writing and sense of style). I have always been a big fan of PeepToe jewellery but I had actually never bought a pair of shoes from them. They have such fabulous, sexy, over-the-top heels and but because my ankles are in such bad condition I am unable to wear many of their towering stilettos. When I found out I had won a PeepToe gift card (and had calmed down from the excitement) I made the resolution to not spend it until I have found the perfect pair of shoes for me.

Cut to me, last week walking through Westfield Sydney after a lunch date and I saw PeepToe were having a 20% off sale. I thought now would be a great time to check out the store and see if there were any heels for my crazy little feet. I was in luck and now I am ready to reveal my purchases.  Continue Reading
