Best new beauty products of November 2014

I don’t want to point it out but guys, it’s the end of November already. Can you smell Christmas? Can you hear those New Years fireworks? They are right around the corner so before the madness ensues I want to show you some of my new favourite products to end the season.

November isn’t a key time for product launches but I still had 31 new beauties land on my desk, most of which were colour cosmetics and nail collections. The change of season is the perfect time to get yourself some new colourful toys to use over the festive season and with Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming up, you’ll probably be able to get them a lot cheaper. Oh and don’t forget to check back for our ultimate sale shopping guides for the big weekend! Continue Reading

Illamasqua Im The One Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is upon us tomorrow but whether you care about it or not, celebrate it or not, there is no reason you can’t have a little fun. Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to whip out your romantic makeup or your vixen alter ego. Personally I opt for vixen so I was over the moon when I saw this sexy scarlet red collection from Illamasqua.

I’m The One is a collection that rings true to my own beliefs – I’m my perfect match. It is only made more perfect by including 4 to-die-for reds that will spice up your life. Take a closer look at this collection and try not too drool on your keyboard.  Continue Reading

On Thursday night I went to the Christmas party for Social Diary, an industry website for media and events. Every year it has an awesome dress-up theme and this year it was Wedding Of The Year. You could come as anything related to weddings or marriage. I had sent my RSVP to attend long before I became sick but when it came to the day I wasn’t feeling too well. I was determined to still go because being a full-time blogger means I work alone in my home …. there is no other Christmas party for me!

Coming up with a costume last minute was not ideal. The only thing wedding related I had was my two bridesmaid dresses from the weddings I attended earlier this year. I decided I would go as a trashy bridesmaid (or in Australian terms, a bogan bridesmaid). I am not a makeup artist by any means so I had no idea how I was going to make myself trashy, but after looking up some Google images I felt I had an idea of what to do.

I decided on my pink one-shoulder maxi bridesmaid dress with knee-high black boots and chunky heart shaped plastic rings. I took a packet of gum with me to chew loudly and I borrowed a packet of cigarettes from a friend and put them in my shoulder strap. Now I am going to share how I completed my trashy bridesmaid look with makeup, hair and nails.

The products I used to create my Trashy Bridesmaid look

On Wednesday 30th May, The USA will be treated to a very special Snow White and the Huntsman event on HSN. For those of you who don’t know what HSN is, it stands for Home Shopping Network, and it is one of the greatest home shopping companies in the world. In Australia we have TVSN and the UK have QVC. Well, the USA are lucky enough to have HSN and QVC. Spoilt!

Anyway, I wanted to share with you some of the awesome products that ybf have created for this new movie, starring that chick from Twilight that shows no emotion … Kristen Stewart! It also stars Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth who are far more pleasant to look at. Apologies for anyone who likes Kristen. I am sure she is a lovely girl.

I love fairy tales but I love them even more when they are brought to life in the form of beauty products. I don’t know if I will like the movie, but I will definitely like these cuties!

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
