Look Good Feel Better Social Post

Next week, September 8 to 14, is officially Dream Week. Sounds like a good week to me. Sleep in, lovely dreams …. well, it isn’t quite that. Dream Week is an initiative run by Look Good Feel Better to help raise awareness for the work they do to help people fighting cancer to look and feel their best. It is obvious why this is a cause close to my heart; my own personal motto is that looking and feeling good go hand-in-hand, one is achieved easily with the other. Supporting Dream Week is something I am only too happy to do.

My mother has been going through the ups and downs (mostly downs) of cancer for 5+years. She was lucky to attend a Look Good Feel Better workshop during one of her rounds of treatment and it really helped her in a time of need. I witnessed first hand how Look Good Feel Better brightened up a cancer patient, and since that experience I have been privileged to witness their work on other occasions. Despite the best attempts of everyone at LGFB, they are unable to run their free workshops in every hospital for every patient. However, this year they have a brilliant plan to reach the needy who can’t make it to a workshop and I am calling on all of you to help get it off the ground.  Continue Reading

Pantene Beautiful Lengths Hair Donation 7

Spring/Summer is on it’s way for us lovely Australian’s so it is time to shed your Winter hairstyle. I know you don’t want those long locks weighing you down in the summer breeze, and luckily I know a place who could make good use of that hair. Monday, 11 November 2013 is the beginning of National Donate Your Hair Week, the second annual event to be run as part of Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths campaign. I did the chop last year and you saw just how easy it was. It wasn’t just easy, it was an honour. My hair was handed to a very sick complete stranger and it couldn’t have made me happier. Does that sound like something you would like to be a part of?

Taking part in National Donate Your Hair Week is easy and it would make Zooey Deschanel very happy. Honestly. Here is what she had to say:

“Pantene is helping to provide confidence and beautiful real-hair wigs to women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment; you can’t put a price on that. I know Australia and New Zealand have received 5,000 ponytails so far which will make a huge difference to many women with cancer, and I hope we can surpass that number this year.”

You don’t want to let down the hottest star in Hollywood, do you?  Continue Reading

Last September Pantene launched their Beautiful Lengths campaign in Australia and asked Australian women to donate their hair to those who are battling cancer. My mother has been fighting cancer for almost 5 years so I know first hand the pain and suffering women go through when dealing with the illness. I told you more about my story in my donation post but needless to say I was happy to chop my hair off. Today I am excited to share with you where my hair went after it left my head.

Over the course of just a few months, the Beautiful Lengths Australia campaign received over 4000 ponytails from kind Australians. All that hair, including mine, was sent to wig makers who had the tough job of sorting, cleaning, dying and creating wigs. The result so far has been 500 spectacular wigs that are being distributed to cancer patients through Look Good Feel Better, an amazing non for profit who runs beauty workshops for cancer patients.

Last week (June 18) I was invited to be one of three guests to present the very first wigs. Look Good Feel Better, in partnership with Pantene, held a special Beautiful Lengths workshop for women who are doing it tough with their cancer treatments. Women aged from their 20s to 70s, all at different stages in their treatment and fight against the disease taking over their lives, and all incredibly strong and beautiful. I couldn’t have been more honoured to be part of something. Continue Reading

The Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign is an amazing initiative to get woman to grow their hair long and strong, then donate to have it turned into a free wig for cancer patients. In the USA, Pantene USA have been running this campaign since 2006 in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. To date they have distributed over 24,000 free real-hair wigs through the American Cancer Society wig banks. Now the campaign has come to Australia and in conjunction with Look Good … Feel Better, Pantene Australia hope to break the record of free wigs created and distributed across Australia AND New Zealand.

Yesterday, I participated by cutting my hair off and donating my ponytail. Today I want to share with you why I did it, and my journey in video and pictures. Continue Reading

Today Priceline will be attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the most nails filed & varnished in 8 hours to raise funds for cancer patient support charity Look Good…Feel Better.

Way back in June 2010, I told you about my experience with the Look Good…Feel Better charity. They made my mother feel like a million bucks, and that is not easy to do. This time the charity is joining forces with Priceline, Sally Hansen and 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty to make thousands of women feel extra special. Continue Reading
