September. The start of Spring (in Australia) and a very welcome change of temperature, while the northern hemisphere move into fall. It is the time where we switch our wardrobes, makeup, skincare and almost every part of our lives. In beauty, we have seen a big change this time around. September is a big month.

So far I have welcomed 98 new products going on sale this month. It is the most new launches I have seen since starting this series in March but I also believe the most in my entire 2 and a bit years of writing The Plastic Diaries. With this huge number of new beauty products you can bet that creating this months list was awfully difficult. Continue Reading

Each month the beauty industry globally releases hundreds of new products, shades and collections. It can be really hard to stay on top of all the new pretty products that come out, even if you are the savviest shopper around. Starting now, I am going to attempt to make the process a little easier for everyone by posting my favourite new releases each month.

Think of this new series as a monthly hit list of items to keep an eye out for. As we are in the middle of March, it means a change of season and we see all the awesome new collections hit shelves. The first month of a new season is always the most exciting so without further delay, let’s get into the hottest products to hit shelves this March.

Reviews and Swatches

Like every beauty brand that comes to our shores, I instantly wanted to try it. The draw card for me is that they offer on-trend items at around half the price. You know I love me a bargain. Today I am going to show you 5 of the key products I think you will love.

Blush Me! Blush Box

First thing I thought of when I saw these were Benefit Cosmetics boxed powders (I already told you about my love for Sugarbomb). The Blush Boxes from MeMeMe come in four variances, Bronze, Coral, Pink and Rouge. Just like the Benefit versions these also come with a little brush inside, but these are different in that Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
