Rose Gold Colour Trend

I’m absolutely obsessed with rose gold right now. It’s by far the prettiest shade of jewellery I’ve seen but the trend in rose gold bling has now spilled over to other fashion items, beauty products and even homewares. This trend is going to be around for a while to come so I’m stocking up on everything I can find. Here are the gorgeous rose gold items I’ve found so far, plus my wish list of more pinky golden goodness.  Continue Reading

Best beauty products july 2014
It’s been a while since I shared a ‘best new beauty’ round-up but after continual requests landed in my inbox I decided to bring it on back. Don’t ever say I don’t give you what you want.

To get back in the swing of things it’s been a pretty subdued month, with only 30 products hitting shelves this month landing on my desk. That means we are keeping things short and concise, but as always only the items that really bowled me over with first-impressions make this list. Continue Reading

Avon Golden Riviera Eyeshadow Duo

Eyeshadow palettes are one of my greatest weaknesses. I don’t claim to be a makeup artist – in fact, my makeup application skills make it obvious I’m not a makeup artist – so teaming makeup colours is hard work for me. I like to try new and daring looks but I’m terrible at picking complimenting shades. Palettes take the hard work out of the equation, and there is nothing easier than picking up an eyeshadow duo that guarantees your eyes will pop.

Avon’s True Colour Eyeshadow Duo’s come in a variety of combinations, ranging from subtle nudes through to bold eye-catchers. Golden Riviera instantly caught my eye when I saw it, teaming gold with blue. Despite how much I loved the look of this shadow in the pan, I was concerned about how it would appear on my pale skin. Find out how it performed and see how it looked on my eyes in this review.  Continue Reading

Nail Polish Meme

I know I don’t need any more nail polish. No one NEEDS nail polish, but we want it. Especially me. And Sephora are back to their old tricks of tempting me to hand over my credit card for their snazzy new line of nail polish and nail care products, Formula X for Sephora.

The new line was launched just this month and while we did hear rumblings that the mega retailer would be looking to launch new nail offerings we still found this to be a well kept secret right up until it went on sale. The collection is massive, currently including over 200 items, and features everything from classic cremes to 3D appliqués.

The Collection

The collection is broken down into multiple sub-categories and each contain a variety of hues:  Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
