Bikini Ready Summer Body

In Australia, we are clutching to the few remaining summer days. Above the equator, people are excited to welcome some warmer days. Whether you are about to enter spring or autumn we all have summer on our minds and the hopes it will roll around quickly. This is the time most people need to start planning what they will to do to get a great summer body, and if you want something quick and effective you really can’t beat a cosmetic enhancement or two.

In this Summer Body Guide I have asked Dr Cath Porter from Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) and some cosmetic enhancement experts to tell us which non-surgical treatments will help you to achieve a body you will be proud to flaunt on the beach.  Continue Reading

Mecca Cosmetica is one of my favourite beauty stores in Australia. I describe it as a mix between Sephora and the beauty counters at Barneys New York. Mecca stock prestige, luxury and top shelf beauty products including hard to find items, and they are even the exclusive Australian stockist for many international brands. So naturally I think they are one of the best places to shop for Christmas gifts, but don’t take my word for it, check out the amazing limited edition offerings from their holiday collections and judge for yourself.

Oh and if you want to pick me up anything from this list I shall forever adore you (I am looking at you close family & friends!).  Continue Reading

I talk a lot about treatments, salons and clinics on The Plastic Diaries because I believe that your skin, just like a car, needs to go in for a professional service every now and then. Certain treatments in particular are the key to keeping your skin looking and feeling good. But, home care is equally important. I get asked quite often about my skin secrets but none more so than what I use at home. I have told you a lot about Dannè Montague-King (DMK) and I still use the products daily but there are other products I haven’t yet told you about or only briefly mentioned.

Today I am going to share with you some products I use to achieve the same result as a professional treatment. This post is dedicated to Kat _H_, an Instagram user who so kindly complimented my complexion again this week.  Continue Reading

One of my best shots. No really, I love it.....

A number of my lovely Australian readers alerted me tonight to a story that displayed my blog during a feature regarding Australian aesthetician, Dr Illesha Haywood from Paramedical Skin Clinic in Melbourne. As many of you would know, I did a review of the Jet Peel treatment way back in 2010 and it would seem that due to many of the comments I received on that post, it drew some attention when one of our national TV news programs were researching the good doctor.

I am writing this post for a few reasons, most of which is to have my say as I was never contacted by the network, the producer or the journalist investigating the story. Obviously I have no qualms with them displaying my blog, but what I do have problems with is that they highlighted certain statements that actually do not appear in the post or in the comments section AT ALL. In my mind, this is misrepresentation of my website and of me, and I want to have my say.

To start, let’s take a little look at the story that ran on the TV show, Today Tonight.

Last week I was lucky enough to be offered a chance to try out a new skin treatment called ‘Jet Peel’. I thought the name sounded awfully painful, like some sort of turbo charged jet engine filled with acid. Obviously thinking that made me a tad hesitant on whether to give it a go or not. Luckily my shallowness kicked in and told me to go for it. Continue Reading

Tangle Teezer and Dessata hairbrushes

Detangling hairbrushes are available from just about everywhere now but when it comes to trusted brands there are a few to choose from. In this post I’ve got Tangle Teezer vs Dessata in a battle of the detangling brushes. Both are priced almost identically (here in Australian anyway) so which brush is worth your dollars?

For this battle I’ve selected the Tangle Teezer The Original to go up against the Dessata Maxi Detangling Brush. I own three Tangle Teezer brushes – The Original, Compact Styler and Aqua Splash – but for this post I’m comparing The Original as it’s the most popular model. Read on to find out which might be the best detangling brush for you.  Continue Reading
