Beauty shopping haul from New York via The Plastic Diaries

Shopping in the USA will never get old for me. I will never bore of it, even if every single brand they sell there comes to Australia. I can’t put it in to words exactly what I like about shopping there but I can show you the fruits of my labour. It was only in May I got to share with you my first 2014 beauty haul from the USA but shock horror I got even more during my New York trip for Fashion Week.

I recorded this video while in New York so my shopping adventures hadn’t been completed just yet, but I have got my full haul pictured and listed after the video. Will you spot something you already love or want to try?  Continue Reading

USA Beauty Shopping

When I’m at home in my own city there is nothing I loathe more than spending a full day at the shops looking for beauty products. I LOVE shopping for beauty products but I find it most enjoyable when I’m in a foreign city. I adore shopping in the USA because of the huge selection available, the lower price points and the sales assistants who actually help you (yes, that’s rare in Australia).

I’ve just returned from a business trip in the USA and many of you have been nagging me to share my haul. I’m going to start with my beauty haul because it’s the largest (of course!). In comparison to past trips I would say this haul is small but I stuck to things I actually had on my lust list and/or items I absolutely love. I tried to keep the splurging to a minimum …. but I’m only human.  Continue Reading

Maybelline NY Express Remover
Removing nail polish can be such a chore that many of us will just wait until it flakes off or we peel it off. I’ve been guilty of these many times but in an effort to keep my nails in pristine condition I try to remove it properly with nail polish remover. My laziness kicks in when it comes to glitter polish or dark colours because they require more effort to remove without making a mess. Maybelline New York says they can change that with their new Express Remover. Can this pot of nail polish remover make my job easier? Find out in this review.  Continue Reading

Nail Polish Meme

I know I don’t need any more nail polish. No one NEEDS nail polish, but we want it. Especially me. And Sephora are back to their old tricks of tempting me to hand over my credit card for their snazzy new line of nail polish and nail care products, Formula X for Sephora.

The new line was launched just this month and while we did hear rumblings that the mega retailer would be looking to launch new nail offerings we still found this to be a well kept secret right up until it went on sale. The collection is massive, currently including over 200 items, and features everything from classic cremes to 3D appliqués.

The Collection

The collection is broken down into multiple sub-categories and each contain a variety of hues:  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
