Nail Polish Meme

I know I don’t need any more nail polish. No one NEEDS nail polish, but we want it. Especially me. And Sephora are back to their old tricks of tempting me to hand over my credit card for their snazzy new line of nail polish and nail care products, Formula X for Sephora.

The new line was launched just this month and while we did hear rumblings that the mega retailer would be looking to launch new nail offerings we still found this to be a well kept secret right up until it went on sale. The collection is massive, currently including over 200 items, and features everything from classic cremes to 3D appliqués.

The Collection

The collection is broken down into multiple sub-categories and each contain a variety of hues:  Continue Reading

Karla Spetic essie Nails Tools

It is something I have complained about for a while, the availability of certain nail brands being restricted in Australia. Essie was one of those brands until L’Oreal acquired the company recently. Until this month Essie was only available at selected department stores, and even if you found a store that stocked the brand it was a very limited selection. Now, with the power of L’Oreal and some handshakes behind closed doors, Essie will now be stocked in over 310 Priceline stores. This is massive news for nail lovers.

Priceline is a beauty-lovers shopping heaven. While most brands are considered drugstore or pharmacy brands, the set-up and friendly service of your local Priceline is what makes us shoppers feel at home. For me personally, I think the over use of the colour pink also reels me in. A girl can’t hide her love of pink.  Continue Reading

How To Remove Gel Nails Header

Like most women, I love going to the nail salon to get my gel nails applied but when it comes time to removing them I can never be bothered going back just to have someone else take them off. Removing them DIY at home can be risky because that is when damage to the nail is more likely to occur, however, if you do it correctly you can keep your nice long new nails without any tears. Today I am going to share my tutorial on how I remove my Bio Sculpture gel nails at home, and I will be doing it to the awesome Missoni inspired gel NOTD. This technique can be applied to any gel nails, shellac, gel-polish hybrids and to even remove glitter nail polish (life saver!!).  Continue Reading

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Purple Ombre Nails

The new and improved Complete Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen made my list of new launch favourites in February. Since then I have been playing around with the overwhelming 42 new shades and have my first ombre NOTD to show you. Of course I chose to go with my favourite colour, purple, but there were so many choices it was hard to pick. Being my first ombre manicure attempt (and I did it in a rush) I think it could have gone better so I am going to distract you from my crappy paint job with a comprehensive review of the new line.  Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
