Posts in National Breast Cancer Foundation

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the globe. It almost seems silly that it still includes the word “Awareness” because I don’t think there is any other cancer more publicised, more known to people, than breast cancer. I can’t speak for every nation but in Australia we have year round campaigns for breast cancer. Our radio stations go so far as to remind us to check for lumps on the first day of each month. Frankly, you can’t escape being aware of Breast Cancer. I have been a long-time supporter of all BCA/Pink Ribbon efforts but this year I have been starting to really look into where the money goes and I have to say, I have a bone to pick.

Have you heard of pink-washing? I had only just heard this term within the past few months but it has been something that has been present for many years. A Girl’s Gotta Spa wrote this compelling post back in 2009 and it really set a lightbulb off for me when I read it recently. Before we get into it, let’s understand what pink-washing is.  Continue Reading

It is Halloween month and my most favourite time of the year to see spooky makeup looks and ghoulish nails. Other than Halloween though, the beauty front will be a little quiet for new launches this October. There were just over 50 products keeping me busy to consider for my monthly favourites but I got through them and I have come up with these top picks.

Don’t forget to tell me what has taken your fancy this month! Continue Reading

It is October and that means it is Breast Cancer Awareness month all across the globe. For fans of the colour pink, it could be seen as our favourite time of the year because almost everything is turned to pink all in the name of supporting an important initiative. Today I am going to show you the special beauty products I think should top your list for Pink Ribbon fundraising.  Continue Reading

Earlier this week I showed you my round up of the Best of Pink Ribbon month for 2011. I have to say, when I said “Best of” I didn’t really mean they were the ONLY ones to lust after. I am way too in love with Pink Ribbon month to just stop at 6 products. Today I am going to show you some more awesome Pink Ribbon merchandise that I have found while ‘surfing the internet’ (can you believe we used to actually say that!).

I have also done a similar post over at my ‘fashion’ blog, The Styleless Diaries. So if you are looking for a non-beauty Pink Ribbon product, you might find something that takes your fancy.

Now, before I start, let me be clear that I don’t own, nor have I tried, any of these products. These are just ones that have taken my fancy and I think could be worth the pennies they cost.

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
