Picking a nail colour that had to last me through moving house, overseas travel and a week of business events was one of the toughest decisions I’ve made all year. I always get a gel-polish or gel manicure before I travel or do anything labour intensive because it keeps my nails protected, but the addition of attending lots of business meetings meant I had to carefully consider the colour choice. Red is a fail safe option (especially Big Apple Red) but this time I wanted something a little more fashion forward while still keeping true to my classic sense of style. The answer: White. I have been really getting into the nail art craze lately but the problem is I am so beginner that I just can’t do the complicated stuff. I look at the amazing things people create and I wish I had just a fraction of their talent. Unfortunately I don’t, but that isn’t going to stop me from trying. All I need is some nifty nail art tools that help the less-talented such as myself. Manicare have released a new nail product that they say will make nail art easy for any skill level, so I was eager to try it out. Their new Express! 3-in-1 Nail Art Pens caught my attention in February but have they lived up to the hype? Find out with this review and see my attempt at a dotted nail art manicure. Like most women, I love going to the nail salon to get my gel nails applied but when it comes time to removing them I can never be bothered going back just to have someone else take them off. Removing them DIY at home can be risky because that is when damage to the nail is more likely to occur, however, if you do it correctly you can keep your nice long new nails without any tears. Today I am going to share my tutorial on how I remove my Bio Sculpture gel nails at home, and I will be doing it to the awesome Missoni inspired gel NOTD. This technique can be applied to any gel nails, shellac, gel-polish hybrids and to even remove glitter nail polish (life saver!!). Continue Reading
The new and improved Complete Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen made my list of new launch favourites in February. Since then I have been playing around with the overwhelming 42 new shades and have my first ombre NOTD to show you. Of course I chose to go with my favourite colour, purple, but there were so many choices it was hard to pick. Being my first ombre manicure attempt (and I did it in a rush) I think it could have gone better so I am going to distract you from my crappy paint job with a comprehensive review of the new line. I am going to ease back into the working week by showing off my colourful Missoni inspired nail art I was rocking last week. This was a lovely design created by Jackie from Bio Sculpture Australia. I love Bio Sculpture and always love getting a clean coloured nail from their gel, but nail art is something I haven’t played around with much. The first time I experimented with Bio Sculpture nail art was for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in 2012. This time around I wanted something a little more complicated. With Chevron being such a big theme in nail art right now, I liked the idea of taking it smaller and colourful, and who does that better than Missoni?
Bio Sculpture have also JUST released their brand new 12W LED light, which cures faster than their previous UV light (now only 30 seconds), uses less energy and has emits less UV. This was my first time with the new system and it was very impressive. The new light is also much smaller so it takes up less space at the work station.
Now let’s see the nails … Continue Reading
