Essential foods for healthy living

With so many diets, fads, weightless programs and the overall push towards fitspiration, it’s hard to know what you should and shouldn’t be changing in your life. I’ve never been a fan of taking vitamins or a bunch of pills to make me feel better. My train of thought has always been to tough it out or just eat better, but since becoming vegan I’ve learnt that not everything can be solved with food choices. My health has improved dramatically just by changing my diet but like with any diet change there are certain nutrients you may need that aren’t in your food, or your body naturally does not process as it should. This is where nutritional supplements really make a difference.

Prior to becoming vegan I had a long-term relationship with bloating. I would bloat as soon as I ate or drank something and the pain would last for hours, usually easing just in time for my next meal. It was uncomfortable, it impacted negatively on my life and most of all it made me feel & look bad. Due to a major diet and lifestyle change I no longer have those issues but I know many people who do. My recommendation is moving to a plant-based diet, it has worked wonders for me, but I was curious if there were other ways to relieve a bloating gut so I asked celebrity nutritionist and chef, Zoe Bingley-Pullin, for her recommendations.

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those.
