Workout Fashion
A recent study proved that if you wear appropriate workout gear that not only functions well but looks good, you are more likely to continue exercise and achieve greater results. My one and only new years resolution in 2014 is get fit and tone up. Sure, it has superficial motives because I want to look hot but nevertheless the goal is still the same. I wan’t to rock this task so I thought I better take a look at my workout wardrobe. The result? I have nothing!

I’ve commenced group personal training to start out the year. The worst part about having nothing but old t-shirts and track pants with worn-out elastic is that not only do I feel bad because I know I look bad, but I feel even worse because people can see me look this bad. It definitely makes me want to stop exercising and run to hide under my doona. I guess that study was right!

My goal is a workout wardrobe makeover. Here’s my shopping list: Continue Reading

Fat Girl Meme

I have mentioned previously that pants are the bane of my existence. I even tried to recruit you to choose pants for me, but despite my attempts I still hadn’t found pants that fit me. Now that winter is showing itself I had to take the plunge and buy pants once and for all. With the help of my friend Jacquii (the brains behind fashion blog Couture Caddy) we hit up Sydney CBD with a mission. So, did we achieve any success and what is my beef with pants in the first place? Where do I start!

My Problem With Pants

Having a minimal budget to spend on an entire new winter wardrobe (more on that another time) meant I had to try and make the money I do have get me the most versatile items I could afford. I don’t go out much socially but I do have a lot of work events to attend, which means I needed comfortable but stylish pants that could be worn with almost anything. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. In my case I have to factor in my 155cm stature, and a medium sized waist, tiny hips and big thighs …. which all adds up to frustration.

I see a lot of styles I like but the major problem I find when it comes to trying on pants is that if I get a size that is small enough for my waist and crotch length, I have the problem of not being able to pull them up past my thighs. However, if I find pants I can actually pull up past my thighs, I have the problem of them being baggy everywhere else. Frustration at its most frustrating. Continue Reading

The Styleless Diaries full logo with diary

It has been a while since I last discussed the state of my wardrobe and sense of style. Fashion isn’t my thing and that is exactly why I created The Styleless Diaries. I kind of need to have a sense of style for my job as a beauty blogger because I go to lots of lovely events and meet with lots of people from brands and public relations agencies (all of which dress fabulously!), but it is such a foreign concept to me. How does one put together a fashionable outfit and not look like a mess?

Well, over the past year I have been trying REALLY hard to buy good, not-too-trendy pieces. Over the past 8 months I have been slowly culling my wardrobe of all the items I can’t/won’t/shouldn’t wear but it has left me with very little to wear … well that and the staggering amount of weight I have put on.

My goal during this time has been to rebuild a solid wardrobe containing classic, wearable pieces that make me look good no matter how they are styled. I wanted good quality items that will be versatile enough for any occasion. I think I did ok but I want to show you my recent purchases in hope you can help me. All of these were bought during 2012 and obviously before my new vegan lifestyle so there are some items I would definitely not purchase now, however, I feel like disposing of them would actually mean that the animals who gave to create those items were in vain. This is the reason I am not getting rid of any items I already own but I most definitely will not be buying any new animal product items moving forward.

Here they are, my latest fashion purchases:  Continue Reading

Pantone 2013 Emerald Main Image

I always look forward to the big reveal of Pantone’s Colour Of The Year choice. The sweet pink shade of Honeysuckle won the coveted spot in 2011 and I completed a mammoth task to show you some of the beauty products out there already donning the winning shade. Since then the beauty industry has seen the potential in this prestigious recognition of colour and in 2012 Sephora collaborated directly with Pantone to release the Pantone Universe collection in the 2012 Colour Of The Year, Tangerine Tango. For 2013 I am back to my original ways of showing you some of the greatest pieces I have found in the 2013 Colour Of The Year, Emerald.

Emerald can be interpreted in many different ways and even Pantone have shown a diverse selection in their own mood boards. To start this in-depth look at the items you can add to your wardrobe or beauty kit we should learn a bit about Pantone’s decision to choose Emerald.

The last time I wore pants I was crucified, and rightly so. I looked shocking and it put me off trying pants ever again. BUT here is the deal, I need pants. It is winter in Australia, I am freezing cold, and I am sick of shoving my fat thighs into tights which only gives me a massive muffin top and then pulling the tights up every few minutes so the crotch isn’t at my knees. Can you tell this has been bugging me a little?  Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
