New Release Beauty Favourites July 2013Wooo, it is July!! We made it to half way through 2013, can you believe it? July is a great time in the beauty world because of all the leftover sales from the end of financial year. Nordstrom are having their annual Anniversary Sale and there are lots of beauty exclusives and offers to tempt you. My beloved Clearance section on Adore Beauty is overflowing with favourites from Bloom Cosmetics, BECCA and Invisible Zinc. And then there is the always awesome Sephora and ULTA, who both have some jaw dropping offers.

If sales aren’t enough for you, how about all the new beauty launches that come to town in July? This month I met 81 new products which left my head spinning and my heart racing. Here is my curated selection of standouts. Continue Reading

Environ Ionzyme C-Quence Eye GelI usually don’t have a preference over formula when it comes to eye products. Eye cream, eye serum, eye gel – they are all good to me, but I must admit that there is nothing quite like the feeling of a cool gel on tired, puffy eyes. It is so refreshing and it has the power to snap life back into the deadest of eyes. I have been working pretty hard of late so that is why I decided to give the Ionzyme C-Quence eye gel a try from Environ. How did it perform? Read my review to find out. Continue Reading

Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Facial Firming Serum

You may know Philosophy for their yummy shower gels, cute product names and inspirational messages, but don’t confuse them for a company that has token skincare products with no results. Behind the beautiful messaging of the products sits hard working skincare goods. If you are looking to try a new skincare brand or range, I always think a serum is a good place to start. A serum is usually the most hard working product in a line so if you find a serum works for you chances are the other products won’t be too bad either.

When Hope Is Not Enough forms part of the “Hope” line, which is one of the many skincare ranges in Philosophy’s collection. My review today is of the Facial Firming Serum. Read on to see what this product did and didn’t do for me. Continue Reading

When you think of cosmetics you probably don’t think of Dermalogica, but to those that are devoted skincare fans you may have uncovered that a few of their skincare products work brilliantly for cosmetic uses. However, their latest release is the SkinPerfect Primer and it just for the cosmetic queens. This product boasts the intelligence of the Dermalogica AGE Smart line which happens to be one of my favourites but I have never been too fond of silicone based primers so will this one change my mind? Let’s find out!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
