Posts in Polyvore

I have to start this post by telling you how utterly nervous I am. Today I am sharing with you some news about a Revlon competition I am participating in and it is the most terrifying thing I have ever done. It involves me, Revlon, 4 other amazing Australian blogs, a hell of a lot of nail polish and all of you lovely readers. Here is the story so far.  Continue Reading

Last week I got a lovely note from gorgeous blogger Jasmine from Red Lipstick Stains.

Hi Kimberly,

I’ll be attending my Year 10 formal in August and need some beauty and fashion ideas from an expert! 😉

I’ve attached a photo of the exact dress I’ll be wearing, except mine will be in a sea blue! What shoes and clutch do you reckon would go best with the dress? Also, I’m thinking of wearing a glamourous statement necklace and some chunky bracelets, would gold or silver look better? I don’t think I go well with silver, though!

Another thing is, I am stuck with makeup and hair ideas! I’m not a fan of anything too bright or dark 🙂 would an updo or side swept loose curls look better?

Lastly, nails! I have absolutely no idea what I should do for nails. Any ideas for me?

XO Jasmine

What Do You Do With Polyvore?

I have only been playing around with it for a few days, but ultimately I have worked out a few key things. It would seem one uses Polyvore to create little collages, known as ‘Sets’, of things you like or want. Back in my day, one would cut things out from a magazine that they wanted to buy. Polyvore is basically that but taken online and far more interactive.

Instead of just having a collage of useless images of items that you have to hunt down, each image is linked to the relevant online store that you can buy it from. Far more intelligent than the old magazine clipping technique.

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
