Cate Blanchett Golden Globes 2014 Behind The Scenes Makeup

Wasn’t the 2014 Golden Globes just fabulous? I don’t know why this award season is impressing me so much but I truly think the beauty looks have been incredible. There were 4 stand-out looks in my opinion and I’m going to show you exactly how to achieve them thanks to the experts who created them. Will your favourite celebrity be on my list? Will you try one of these beauty looks? I can’t wait to find out.  Continue Reading

It has been some time since I have shown you some new Lancôme lipsticks but these came across my desk just a couple of days ago and they are so cute I couldn’t bare to withhold them. Unfortunately, the sunshine in Sydney has been lacking but even in less than impressive natural light, you can still see how shiny and lustreous these are. Today I will be showing you 3 of the 21 new shades.

My Review

As always, I will give you my thoughts on the individual colour below with the swatches, but here are my remarks on the overall line. Continue Reading

This wrap-up has been a long time coming but I wanted to make sure I could find most, if not all, the images from New York Fashion Week before I made my judgement. Well, weeks later, I think I am ready. Here are my favourites from the very recent New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011-2012 shows.

Lancôme for Chris Benz

Yellow eyeshadow is not something you can just throw on. The colour, the intensity and the pairing with other colours can make the look a complete failure, or a smashing success. Lancôme lead makeup artist, Daniel Martin, did a top job with this sunshine lid and full lip.

Official Description: The makeup muse for Chris Benz’s Spring 2012 collection was Candy Darling, a 1960’s nightclub fixture who was part of Andy Warhol’s clique. With Candy and Chris’ bright colors as inspiration, lead makeup artist Daniel Martin wanted to create fresh, clean skin with a pop of color on the eyes and lips. Daniel used shades of sea foam and mint green on the eyes and then applied black gel liner for definition. For thick jet-black lashes, he applied “tons of mascara.” A wash of tangerine blush was applied high on the cheekbones and Lancôme’s new Rouge in Love lipstick gave the models a bright pouty lip.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. In my almost 9 years of blogging I have lost count of the bloggers that have come and gone, most of which I have no idea why or where they went.

Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
