Sephora Makeup and Beauty Haul from USA by Australian beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries Blog

It’s been a long time since I’ve truly been beauty shopping. When I say “beauty haul” I don’t mean going to my local drugstore or Sephora and picking up a mascara or lip balm. When I beauty haul, I HAUL! One of my absolute favourite places to do that is Sephora in the USA.

I haven’t been to the USA since 2014 so I was well overdue for a Sephora.com haul. When my cousin told me he was coming to visit me from New York I jumped at the opportunity to get some goodies. I actually had an outstanding balance on a gift card I got years ago so I had to use that up anyway. It might sound silly but it’s a small way that I can still feel connected to the country and people I have grown to love so very much.

So what did I buy? I’ll reveal it to you but I’ll admit I regret not getting more. I’m currently in the process of a massive office cull so I was trying to be reserved and not get anything as an impulsive purchase. These are items I had on my want list for a really long time.  Continue Reading

Essano Rosehip Hand Cream review

Just because the weather has warmed up doesn’t mean I can afford to stop using hand cream. Keeping my nails healthy and my hands soft is easy if I stick to regular hand cream use but in the warmer months I look for something light that hydrates quickly without any residue left behind. The new Rosehip by Essano hand cream uses their key ingredient, certified organic rosehip, as the miracle cure along with shea butter and jojoba oil. Will it be right a summer essential? My review tells the story.  Continue Reading

Lush Cosmetics 2014 Holiday Collection

The holiday season has all but commenced and that’s a special time in a beauty lovers life. It’s a time when limited edition products an generous gift sets take pride of place and beauty consumers go crazy for all the pretty, shiny things (especially me!). One brand that always nails the joy of the holiday season is Lush Cosmetics. Their eco-friendly, cruelty-free, all vegetarian (and majority vegan), lovingly-made products bring a sense of relaxation and child-like innocence to a time that is usually so greedy.

Whether you’re looking for great gift ideas or simply need to treat yourself during this hectic time, my top 12 picks (in no particular order) from the Lush Holiday range will have something you’ll love. I’m focusing on 12 individual products but they also have amazing sets available in-store and online if you want to pick up an impressive gift pack. Continue Reading

Best new beauty product launches

Eeeek, is that really the date already? I know August is well and truly over but I can’t pass up sharing my favourites for the month. As for the delay in posting it, well, I blame New York Fashion Week. You’ll soon see why that took up so much of my time.

It was a somewhat slow month for new launches, with only 28 new products gracing my desk, but nearly all of them grabbed my attention and many of them will be fronting some big advertising campaigns over the coming months. I’m sure this won’t be the first nor last you see of them Continue Reading

Natural Instinct Hand & Nail Cream

A good hand & nail cream is paramount to youthful hands and healthy nails. Everyday our hands are exposed to damaging environmental factors and they become dehydrated through hand washing. I apply hand cream at every opportunity to make sure my skin never gets thirsty, which in turn keeps them looking young and plump. But would I get the same results from an all natural, plant-based hand & nail cream? I put Australian brand, Natural Instinct, to the test.  Continue Reading

Tangle Teezer and Dessata hairbrushes

Detangling hairbrushes are available from just about everywhere now but when it comes to trusted brands there are a few to choose from. In this post I’ve got Tangle Teezer vs Dessata in a battle of the detangling brushes. Both are priced almost identically (here in Australian anyway) so which brush is worth your dollars?

For this battle I’ve selected the Tangle Teezer The Original to go up against the Dessata Maxi Detangling Brush. I own three Tangle Teezer brushes – The Original, Compact Styler and Aqua Splash – but for this post I’m comparing The Original as it’s the most popular model. Read on to find out which might be the best detangling brush for you.  Continue Reading
