Fashion Sneakers with Style

Sneakers. They’re a pretty basic, essential footwear item, right? Not for me they weren’t. In the past I’ve been notoriously allergic to exercise and one great way to get out of it was to not own any appropriate footwear. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a pair of runners in my cupboard on and off since my school years but they rarely saw sunlight. That all changed late last year when I underwent a forefoot reconstruction. As a result it has forced me into wearing sneakers regularly. The healing process is a good 12months and in that time it’s recommended to wear runners, sneakers or any shoe that isn’t too tight or form fitting. My poor, sad collection of heels have been locked away this year but luckily sneakers  are so acceptable as fashion footwear these days because I’ve been able to get away with wearing them to some pretty unconventional places. Winter Fashion Essentials

Moving to a colder climate just in time for winter probably wasn’t the smartest decision, especially because I had no clothes prepared for such a bitter winter. Over the past couple of months I’ve been purchasing wisely to ensure I have something to wear when the temperature drops to disturbingly cold levels. I have to admit it’s been a little hard sticking to my plan of only buying classic pieces that will be transeasonal and within my budget. Sure, if budget was no limit I would just go buy a few Burberry jackets but unfortunately I can’t do that right now.

Here are my latest fashion buys keeping me warm during the chilly season.  Continue Reading

Lace Fashion Trend

Lace doesn’t have to be all about girly, white a-line skirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I acknowledge my latest fascination with lace does come from my inner girly-girl who likes floral prints, lace trim and pink everything, but lace is so on-trend right now that you can wear it in a way that reflects your personal style, whatever that may be. The great thing with lace is that it adds an element of texture to an outfit. So, for example, let’s say you won’t wear anything but black clothes (hands up if that’s you!), adding a touch of lace with some vegan leather will make your outfit look more like Angelina Jolie and less like a M.A.C sales assistant.  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
