Lace doesn’t have to be all about girly, white a-line skirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I acknowledge my latest fascination with lace does come from my inner girly-girl who likes floral prints, lace trim and pink everything, but lace is so on-trend right now that you can wear it in a way that reflects your personal style, whatever that may be. The great thing with lace is that it adds an element of texture to an outfit. So, for example, let’s say you won’t wear anything but black clothes (hands up if that’s you!), adding a touch of lace with some vegan leather will make your outfit look more like Angelina Jolie and less like a M.A.C sales assistant. The Boyfriend trend has been a huge hit with celebrities, on catwalks and in high-end fashion stores for quite some time, but as someone without a supermodel body shape it has meant that even though I love the look of the trend, I couldn’t find anything that suited me. Target understands the troubles real women face with fashion trends so they teamed with their legendary style ambassador, Gok Wan, to create their own Boyfriend Collection.
With the belief anyone can pull off the Boyfriend trend, Target challenged me to create an outfit using one of their Boyfriend pieces. At first I thought they were ridiculous because I haven’t found denim to look good on me in over 3 years but I was up for a challenge.
