Bioderma Atoderm Nourishing Cream

Dry skin needs a lot of extra TLC in my opinion. If you want smooth, healthy skin you have to fight to keep it hydrated, especially in summer. Internal and external sources of hydration are important to all skin types but extra dry skin can take a little more work to keep the thirst quenched. My dry skin is pretty tough and can get through most conditions relatively unharmed but in summer my legs can get so dry they reveal scales.

I need a body lotion that will hydrate my dry skin but is gentle enough on irritations as well as being highly effective to work fast and help my skin build a stronger barrier. Bioderma’s Atoderm range is specifically designed for dry and very dry skin. Having had success with the body wash, I wanted to try the lotion. Here are my findings.   Continue Reading

FAT GIRL BEAUTY PROBLEMS

For a long time I’ve been learning startling things about the human body from the TV show, Embarrassing Bodies. Recently I discovered the spin-off, Embarrassing Fat Bodies, and immediately thought to myself,”hey now, isn’t this just going to be a whole show of fat shaming?”. I was wrong, it’s actually incredibly informative but it also made me realise something I hadn’t noticed previously. As I’ve discussed many times, my weight yoyo’s dramatically but something that clicked while I watched this show was that there are certain beauty issues that flare-up when I’m heavier. These are Fat Girl Beauty Problems.

All of these ailments can present in any person – age, weight, race, etc is irrelevant, but I’ve personally found they’re at their worst when I’m carrying extra flub. The emotional and health issues a girl can face from being overweight is enough to deal with. It goes without saying that losing weight is the best solution for these problems but I’m going to tell you how you can ease the burden in the meantime. Seraphina Organics On With The Glow Body Wash

Seraphina Organics is a luxury, certified organic, cruelty-free beauty brand focusing on sensitive skin types (eg. eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, severely dry skin or easily acned skin). The company was founded by Amy Crosby who grew tired of her eczema and wanted nice beauty products for herself without compromising on ingredients. Still a relatively new brand, they currently have 6 products in their line that body, hands and lips. As body washes can be quite a concern for those with skin allergies I am reviewing their On With The Glow Body Wash first.

I personally suffer from itchy skin, which has eased 90% since I changed to a plant-based diet, but a small percentage is still easily triggered by heat rash in cases of extreme heat. As the weather warmed up for Spring/Summer I found this to be the perfect time to put it to the test. Could this new Aussie beauty keep me clean and calm my skin? Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
