Lace doesn’t have to be all about girly, white a-line skirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I acknowledge my latest fascination with lace does come from my inner girly-girl who likes floral prints, lace trim and pink everything, but lace is so on-trend right now that you can wear it in a way that reflects your personal style, whatever that may be. The great thing with lace is that it adds an element of texture to an outfit. So, for example, let’s say you won’t wear anything but black clothes (hands up if that’s you!), adding a touch of lace with some vegan leather will make your outfit look more like Angelina Jolie and less like a M.A.C sales assistant. I showed you my shopping trip at Westfield as I prepared to head to Dallas for a work conference, but I didn’t reveal to you all the items I grabbed. If you have been following on Instagram (and you should, because who doesn’t like pretty pictures?) you will have seen my daily outfit posts. Did you like them? See something you want to buy? This is the post for you.
I couldn’t attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in person this year but that’s ok because I could watch some of the shows right at my desk. Live streaming made my job easy and very comfortable as I kicked my shoes off and watched the action without squeezing between the fashionable masses. Sydney was abuzz with excitement for the week!
I’m going to show you the shows that got me excited, but because we can’t buy the pieces now (annoying!) I’m also going to show you some of my favourite pieces from the designers’ current collections. Continue Reading
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all those around the world celebrating the birth of their lord, and to everyone else who just uses this day to get presents and spend time with loved ones. Whatever it is you do on this day, the one thing Christmas has definitely come to represent is gift giving. I don’t celebrate Christmas so it’s something I miss out on, even though I do give gifts to those who do celebrate it. However, I love the idea of a treat at the end of the year so I bought my own presents as a way to celebrate all the hard work I had put in to 2013. Go me!
While you open your gifts and dine with family I thought I would join in by sharing with you my own Christmas haul. Continue Reading
It has been a while since I last discussed the state of my wardrobe and sense of style. Fashion isn’t my thing and that is exactly why I created The Styleless Diaries. I kind of need to have a sense of style for my job as a beauty blogger because I go to lots of lovely events and meet with lots of people from brands and public relations agencies (all of which dress fabulously!), but it is such a foreign concept to me. How does one put together a fashionable outfit and not look like a mess?
Well, over the past year I have been trying REALLY hard to buy good, not-too-trendy pieces. Over the past 8 months I have been slowly culling my wardrobe of all the items I can’t/won’t/shouldn’t wear but it has left me with very little to wear … well that and the staggering amount of weight I have put on.
My goal during this time has been to rebuild a solid wardrobe containing classic, wearable pieces that make me look good no matter how they are styled. I wanted good quality items that will be versatile enough for any occasion. I think I did ok but I want to show you my recent purchases in hope you can help me. All of these were bought during 2012 and obviously before my new vegan lifestyle so there are some items I would definitely not purchase now, however, I feel like disposing of them would actually mean that the animals who gave to create those items were in vain. This is the reason I am not getting rid of any items I already own but I most definitely will not be buying any new animal product items moving forward.
Here they are, my latest fashion purchases: Continue Reading
