Posts in Slip

It has been a little while since I shared a haul from my trip to the US of A a few months back. Terribly sorry. I hope you liked the jewellery though. I have been wearing the stuff like crazy but I still need some help on styling it. Anyway, this post is not about jewellery. This post is about my fat ass … and tummy, back and legs.

Last week I showed you my current body shape. Over the last few months, while this body shape was developing, I started to feel the need for some controlling undergarments ….. in other words, SPANX.

What Are Spanx

Ultimately, Spanx are undergarments that you wear under your clothes. The difference between Spanx and regular slips or tanks, is that these are all about controlling the bulge. They work similar to the control-top you can find on pantyhose, but they are stronger, tougher and more wearable.

It doesn’t matter if you are fat or thin, Spanx are designed to slim the sillouhette. That means, no visible bulge lines, bra lines, panty lines, etc.

My Wishlist

I have wanted to buy into the Spanx craze for ages. I heard so much about them, and having experienced similar products by Nancy Ganz as a skinny girl, I figured they would work well for me as a curvy girl.

I briefly looked in David Jones, one of the Australian retailers, but there was a lot to choose from and I just didn’t have the time or patience to deal with it. I figured I would put it off until I was in the US where I actually had some down time.

I knew I wanted a dress/slip style and a top/tank style. Here is what I came home with.  Continue Reading

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Have you ever followed a blogger and notice that one day they have just disappeared? Their blog stopped posting new content, their social media went untouched – it happens often. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
