Lace doesn’t have to be all about girly, white a-line skirts (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I acknowledge my latest fascination with lace does come from my inner girly-girl who likes floral prints, lace trim and pink everything, but lace is so on-trend right now that you can wear it in a way that reflects your personal style, whatever that may be. The great thing with lace is that it adds an element of texture to an outfit. So, for example, let’s say you won’t wear anything but black clothes (hands up if that’s you!), adding a touch of lace with some vegan leather will make your outfit look more like Angelina Jolie and less like a M.A.C sales assistant. It has been a while since I last discussed the state of my wardrobe and sense of style. Fashion isn’t my thing and that is exactly why I created The Styleless Diaries. I kind of need to have a sense of style for my job as a beauty blogger because I go to lots of lovely events and meet with lots of people from brands and public relations agencies (all of which dress fabulously!), but it is such a foreign concept to me. How does one put together a fashionable outfit and not look like a mess?
Well, over the past year I have been trying REALLY hard to buy good, not-too-trendy pieces. Over the past 8 months I have been slowly culling my wardrobe of all the items I can’t/won’t/shouldn’t wear but it has left me with very little to wear … well that and the staggering amount of weight I have put on.
My goal during this time has been to rebuild a solid wardrobe containing classic, wearable pieces that make me look good no matter how they are styled. I wanted good quality items that will be versatile enough for any occasion. I think I did ok but I want to show you my recent purchases in hope you can help me. All of these were bought during 2012 and obviously before my new vegan lifestyle so there are some items I would definitely not purchase now, however, I feel like disposing of them would actually mean that the animals who gave to create those items were in vain. This is the reason I am not getting rid of any items I already own but I most definitely will not be buying any new animal product items moving forward.
Here they are, my latest fashion purchases: Continue Reading

The long awaited Forever 21 clothing haul has arrived. After my trip to the states earlier this year, I showed you the jewellery haul as an attempt to ease you into the hauling masses. Next I showed you Zara, which most of you have seemed to think I did well with, or just haven’t said otherwise.
Now, it is my last official clothing haul. I love Forever 21 and in the past I have spent a bucketload every time I walk into one of their stores. As with all the previous hauls this year, I tried to stay calm and only buy exactly what I thought I would need. Here is what I came home with.
NOTE: I am still working out the best way to take haul photos. Does the mannequin work for you? Let me know!
I am definitely a skirt girl. I find with my constantly changing body shape, skirts are often the item I can get a little more wear out of even when I put on or drop a few inches. I would like to think I have no problem in the area of selecting skirts, but when I look back on photos of me wearing what I thought at the time fitted me, I realise it did not look so great. Hopefully I have done ok with these two.
Floral A-Line Skirt with Pockets
I like the almost-structured look of this skirt that the hard linen fabric creates. I thought it would work well as a skirt that goes over tops around my waste. It has deep pockets that are hidden quite well, and I love pockets on skirts and dresses when you can’t tell they are there. I also liked the large buttons down the front for a little detail.
I paid = US $12.50
Floral Mini Skirt
I love skirts with a bit of ‘swing’ or movement, and I actually had a skirt very similar to this one that I bought at Forever 21 last year, and it was my favourite for months. When I saw this one I thought it would be just as good as my previous version so I snapped it up without really trying it on. The skirt has an elastic waistband at the back, but flat at the front, and I like this because somedays I am fatter than others. It is double layered, cream polyester on the bottom and a floral chiffon over the top. I thought it was just a really pretty combo I could wear during spring summer.
I paid = US $10.50
I was unable to find these skirts on Forever 21 online, but there are lots of similar styles available!
Dresses are my favourite style of clothing.
