FAT GIRL BEAUTY PROBLEMS

For a long time I’ve been learning startling things about the human body from the TV show, Embarrassing Bodies. Recently I discovered the spin-off, Embarrassing Fat Bodies, and immediately thought to myself,”hey now, isn’t this just going to be a whole show of fat shaming?”. I was wrong, it’s actually incredibly informative but it also made me realise something I hadn’t noticed previously. As I’ve discussed many times, my weight yoyo’s dramatically but something that clicked while I watched this show was that there are certain beauty issues that flare-up when I’m heavier. These are Fat Girl Beauty Problems.

All of these ailments can present in any person – age, weight, race, etc is irrelevant, but I’ve personally found they’re at their worst when I’m carrying extra flub. The emotional and health issues a girl can face from being overweight is enough to deal with. It goes without saying that losing weight is the best solution for these problems but I’m going to tell you how you can ease the burden in the meantime. In October I publicly acknowledged my battle with mental health due to depression and anxiety. You can read that original post but I want to continue my story today because there was so much I wasn’t ready to write at that time. Like most people with mental illness, it is never really one little problem that you can explain in a simple sentence. My illness is complex. There are layers like an onion and it would take another 20 posts before I would be close to revealing all my demons. Today I want to continue my story in the wake of the tragic gun massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

I am about to do something you may call rather controversial, daring, personal or confronting. Some of you may not like it but it is important for me to post this.

I can never have enough makeup remover wipes on hand. I keep packets stocked up because they are that one beauty product I couldn’t imagine I would stop using. I am as lazy as they come when it is time to remove my makeup at night. I admit, it feels so good at the end of a long day to clean off all that product and let my skin breathe, but the process is so annoying when all I want to do is sleep. That is why I keep a packet of makeup remover wipes beside my bed and lately it has been the new ones from Biore.

In my head Biore was always a ‘teenager-only’ brand of skincare because I remember seeing it in all my favourite teenage magazines a decade ago. Their award winning Pore Strips were all the rage when I was a teen but recently they rebranded and they’re offering products that now appeal to me. The makeup remover wipes was the first product from the new line I really put to the test so I am sharing my review of them first.  Continue Reading

This week it is personal story time on the blog, and I have to admit it is getting harder as the week goes on. On Monday I told you about my experience with plastic surgery, yesterday I opened up about my surprise skin cancer, and today I will be talking about the most difficult topic of all …. my mental health.

It is a topic I am very passionate about but when it comes to giving the details on my own battles I always shut down. I just don’t know what to say. I am much better at giving advice to others than talking about my own experiences, but I am going to try really hard to do that today because I know it is important. It might give you some insight into who I am or it may give you some insight into someone you know who also battles mental illness. No matter what, I hope this post is insightful in some way. There are so many beauty brands that produce amazing skincare products, but getting around to trying them all and even finding what products work for you can be an expensive and exhaustive process. One of my favourite ways to discover new beauty brands and skincare products is to buy a kit. This way you get a variety of products that work together and usually for a fraction of the individual product prices. They also make for a wonderful gift idea. Today I am showing you 8 skincare kits from beauty brands I think you have to try.
