This wrap-up has been a long time coming but I wanted to make sure I could find most, if not all, the images from New York Fashion Week before I made my judgement. Well, weeks later, I think I am ready. Here are my favourites from the very recent New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011-2012 shows.

All the pretty faces ….

Lancôme for Chris Benz

Yellow eyeshadow is not something you can just throw on. The colour, the intensity and the pairing with other colours can make the look a complete failure, or a smashing success. Lancôme lead makeup artist, Daniel Martin, did a top job with this sunshine lid and full lip.

Official Description: The makeup muse for Chris Benz’s Spring 2012 collection was Candy Darling, a 1960’s nightclub fixture who was part of Andy Warhol’s clique. With Candy and Chris’ bright colors as inspiration, lead makeup artist Daniel Martin wanted to create fresh, clean skin with a pop of color on the eyes and lips. Daniel used shades of sea foam and mint green on the eyes and then applied black gel liner for definition. For thick jet-black lashes, he applied “tons of mascara.” A wash of tangerine blush was applied high on the cheekbones and Lancôme’s new Rouge in Love lipstick gave the models a bright pouty lip.

A little while ago I was lucky enough to attend a small make-up class at the Lancôme counter in Myer Sydney City Store, hosted by Michael Brown, the National Make-Up Artist for Lancôme in Australia.

I had been looking forward to this event for some time because, as you already know, I am quite a fan of Lancôme. When I get attached to a brand, like I have done with Lancôme, I feel I hold them to a much higher standard. I expect everything they do to be magic. For this reason, I may have put a little pressure on Michael (in my mind anyway), to achieve greatness and impress me with some tips I had never heard before. Continue Reading

It seems my love for Lancôme is growing with each product I try. The quality just bowls me over and I wish I had discovered it sooner.

Teint Miracle was only launched late last year after 10 gruelling years of research. It was a worldwide effort for Lancôme to create this foundation, and they utilised their labs in France, Japan and the USA to get it done. As usual, I am going to avoid rambling on about the amazing things they discovered, and how this formula contains new particles that are different to their other foundations. Blah, blah, blah … boring. Let’s face it. You want to know if and why it is good or bad. Am I right? If not, oh well …. that is what I am going to tell you anyway!

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
