Best Loose Powder for Setting Makeup

When it comes to flawless makeup, setting it is just as important as the foundation you use and your application. If you have oily skin you’re most likely already doing it but if you have dry skin you’re probably skipping it for fear of it making your skin flaky. It’s important to know that not all face powders are made equally. Some are better for dry skin while others are better for oily …. but my favourites are good for any skin type. They won’t dry you out or make you produce more oil. They will leave your skin looking flawless and extend the wear of your coverage. In my opinion, these are THE best face powders for setting your makeup.  Continue Reading

You can never have enough sunscreen, that is my motto. Sunscreen powder, well, to be honest I never quite believed that would be something I would use even though I love sunscreen. I first came across sunscreen powder during a shopping trip at Sephora. I had heard rumblings of the Peter Thomas Roth range of Instant Mineral SPF’s on various blogs and everyone seemed to have something good to say, so I bought it. That was back in 2011 and it has taken me all this time to get around to reviewing it even though I have been using it ever since. I guess I am ready to share my review.

Before I get into it I want to say that there is a lot of debate over the effectiveness of sunscreen in powder form. I personally would never recommend using it as your stand alone sun protection, rather I suggest using it in conjunction with regular sun protection to maximise coverage and really safeguard yourself from sun damage.  Continue Reading

Drew Barrymore Flower Cosmetics Line

Drew Barrymore has been the face for Lancôme and CoverGirl in the past decade but now Drew is tackling a new frontier with her very own colour cosmetic range called Flower. The name of the line is an obvious pick for Drew, being that her film production company is called Flower Films and it is a name that fits well with Drew’s persona.

Getting a flawless finish with makeup is not so easy, even for many seasoned professional makeup artists. As I have always said, the best way to get flawless makeup is with a flawless canvas, but we can’t all be blessed with the skin of Emma Stone (damn her milky clear skin!). Laura Mercier is a makeup brand that believes all good makeup starts with flawless base makeup, so their complexion products are some of the best in the business.

Today I am going to show you my attempt at creating the ‘Flawless Face’ as per Laura Mercier’s 4-step technique. Continue Reading

Best Vegan Skincare Brands

Everyone has their own opinion on what skincare should do and be, but for me it’s all about aiming for perfection. I don’t want skincare that does the bare minimum and let’s me age gracefully. I only want to use skincare that WORKS – constantly improving my skin and getting it to function at it’s very best. That’s why I’m sharing with you the best vegan skincare brands.

People often confuse my choice to be vegan as somehow meaning I don’t care about my aesthetics any more. They couldn’t be more wrong! My strict standards for top performing skincare isn’t lessened by my cruelty-free choices. If anything, it makes my standards even higher.

There’s a misconception that cruelty-free and vegan skincare is unable subpar; that they’re less effective than animal-based skincare formulations. While this may have been the case decades ago when vegan skincare exclusively meant “natural” products with little to no scientific basis, skincare development has come a long way since then. Don’t get me wrong, there are still hundreds of natural skincare brands out there that do exactly what I don’t want – they don’t improve your skin, they just make it feel and smell nice – and there is a market for those. Not everyone is deathly afraid of aging like me. However, if you strive for clear, healthy and progressively improving skin despite the years passing us by, than I have exactly what you need.

My list of top performing skincare brands will introduce you to the changemakers. The hard-working, highly efficient skincare that allows you to take charge of your own aging appearance. And it just so happens they’re also the best vegan skincare brands too!  Continue Reading
