Vitamins

I’ve never been a fan of taking vitamins or a bunch of pills to make me feel better. My train of thought has always been to tough it out or just eat better, but since becoming vegan I’ve learnt that not everything can be solved with food choices. My health has improved dramatically just by changing my diet but like with any diet change there are certain nutrients you may need that aren’t in your food, or your body naturally does not process as it should. This is where nutritional supplements really make a difference.

Americans spent almost $320 billion on prescription medications in 2011 (source: Take Part) so I’m sharing with you which vitamins I’ve been taking, what they do and how they help me. You should never copy someone else’s prescription whether it be natural or pharmaceutical drugs, and that isn’t my aim, but rather I hope to show you how some of these natural wonders can replace the pharmaceuticals we’re consuming way too much of.  Continue Reading

I have always loathed taking vitamins and nutritional supplements but since becoming vegan I learnt that vitamins can make a big difference to achieving optimal health. The real clincher is that it doesn’t matter what kind of diet you follow, chances are you are lacking some key nutrients.

I am still educating myself on the world of nutrition but I wanted to share some of the important things I have found out about vitamins and supplements. I asked Warren Maginn, Functional and Nutritional Medicine Practitioner and Educator, to spill the 5 most important things we all need to know.  Continue Reading

Baby SunscreenLate last year I shared my story of skin cancer. It is obviously a topic close to my heart and today I want to share some very interesting information with you all. Despite my constant warnings on this blog and in my personal life to my loved ones, many still think it is safe to spend the day at the beach without a drop of sun protection. I thought about how my warnings could sound like nagging so today I am taking a different approach and looking into well-known research to see if there is in fact a time when my fellow Australian’s can have some fun in the sun without wearing any sun protection.

Professional beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries shares her personal blogger burnout story and experience

This article is Part 1 of a three-part series about my personal experience with Blogger Burnout – My Demise + My Recovery + My Future

I started The Plastic Diaries in 2008, became a full-time blogger in 2010 and vanished from the blogging universe in 2015. Where did I go? Why? What happened to me? These are questions that have been asked of me during my 18+ month disappearance. The short answer was blogger burnout – a rarely spoken of condition that is fast becoming a serious concern amongst the influencer industry. Upon my return to blogging at the end of last year I’ve put off explaining what exactly occurred in my life. I confided in a few select friends and trusted individuals about my story but I’ve brushed over it with the wider community by saying the cause was “personal stuff”. I don’t believe bloggers owe anyone an explanation when they disappear but I know that when my favourites have gone AWOL I’ve missed them and been concerned for their wellbeing. I didn’t want to be another blogger who vanished without a trace and leave you wondering. I also believe Continue Reading
