Posts in Wedding

On Thursday night I went to the Christmas party for Social Diary, an industry website for media and events. Every year it has an awesome dress-up theme and this year it was Wedding Of The Year. You could come as anything related to weddings or marriage. I had sent my RSVP to attend long before I became sick but when it came to the day I wasn’t feeling too well. I was determined to still go because being a full-time blogger means I work alone in my home …. there is no other Christmas party for me!

Coming up with a costume last minute was not ideal. The only thing wedding related I had was my two bridesmaid dresses from the weddings I attended earlier this year. I decided I would go as a trashy bridesmaid (or in Australian terms, a bogan bridesmaid). I am not a makeup artist by any means so I had no idea how I was going to make myself trashy, but after looking up some Google images I felt I had an idea of what to do.

I decided on my pink one-shoulder maxi bridesmaid dress with knee-high black boots and chunky heart shaped plastic rings. I took a packet of gum with me to chew loudly and I borrowed a packet of cigarettes from a friend and put them in my shoulder strap. Now I am going to share how I completed my trashy bridesmaid look with makeup, hair and nails.

The products I used to create my Trashy Bridesmaid look

Over the past couple of days I have shown you my mothers journey through Fillers and Freezers. We started at the beginning with some before photos and the backstory then we moved on to the graphic treatment photos but now it is time to show you the aftermath and some of the picks from the wedding.

Now I do want to declare I am a terrible photographer and probably need a photography class or two, so photographing the results of the treatments wasn’t easy for me. I will admit my photos probably do not show anything close to how they appeared in real life so I hope my caption descriptions can guide you a little bit at what to look for.

Yesterday I began telling you about my mothers journey with fillers and freezers in the lead up to my brother/her son’s wedding. Now I am going to show you the photos from her treatment. I wanted to do these series of posts for two main reasons:

  1. To show you what really happens during an injectables treatment.
  2. To show you how much of an improvement someone can achieve with the correct products, the correct needles and the correct hand.

Before we begin, lets refresh ourselves with a before shot.

This is just one photo. Jump back to really see the wrinkles.

I have to tell you that this post (or series of … yes, there will be more) has been a long time coming. The preparation for this post started way back on 22 December 2011. My brothers wedding was exactly 1 month away and as this is the wedding of her first born (and the favourite child. Don’t bother arguing with me mom, I know the truth!), she was freaking out about looking good. Of course my answer to her worries were simple, fillers and freezers (often known by brand names such as Botox, Juvederm, etc).

Before I continue, let’s look at some before pictures of my mother, shall we?

I have been to two weddings in my life. The first one was a promotion we ran at the radio station I used to work for, so I am not sure if that really counts seeing as though I was working and not a guest. The second one however was my brothers, and it happened just the other weekend on Sunday, January 22.

I know many of you were wondering where I had been the last couple of weeks and I am terribly sorry for disappearing on you. Hopefully this post will explain a little bit about why that happened, but mostly I am telling you about this wedding so I can share with you my first every bridesmaid hair and make-up.

Pre-Wedding Madness

Due to my lack of experience on the wedding front, I seriously Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser

Face cleansers are seen as quite an underrated product in terms of our overall skincare needs, but they’re actually really important. The correct cleanser for your skin should remove dirt, debris and build-up that otherwise gets in the way of your other skincare products delivering their best results. A vast majority of skin issues can be activated simply by using the wrong cleanser. When it comes to anti-aging, it’s essential to not use a face cleanser that is drying or stripping. Hydration is key, and that’s one of the major claims behind the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser.

As I continue my fight against aging and dry skin I’ve tested the DermaQuest Stem Cell 3D Facial Cleanser. Is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out.  Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
