Fashion Sneakers with Style

Sneakers. They’re a pretty basic, essential footwear item, right? Not for me they weren’t. In the past I’ve been notoriously allergic to exercise and one great way to get out of it was to not own any appropriate footwear. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a pair of runners in my cupboard on and off since my school years but they rarely saw sunlight. That all changed late last year when I underwent a forefoot reconstruction. As a result it has forced me into wearing sneakers regularly. The healing process is a good 12months and in that time it’s recommended to wear runners, sneakers or any shoe that isn’t too tight or form fitting. My poor, sad collection of heels have been locked away this year but luckily sneakers  are so acceptable as fashion footwear these days because I’ve been able to get away with wearing them to some pretty unconventional places. Cargo Cosmetics Illustration

It’s been a long time since we saw Cargo Cosmetics sold on Australian shores. The travellers’ cosmetic brand (well, that’s what I like to call it) was sold in David Jones stores approximately 10 years ago but departed silently one dark day. Now we have word that Cargo is set to return to Australia in all its glory thanks to Kit Cosmetics.

From February 2, 2014 Cargo Cosmetics will once again go on sale in Australia, at Kit Cosmetics stores and online. To celebrate their return I thought I would share a bit about the brand for those of you who missed it the first time around. Plus, I’m sharing which products I think are a must-try from their range.  Continue Reading

14 Beauty Tools to try in 2014

It’s a new year and time to set some new goals. Despite my obsession with looking and feeling my best, it’s my laziness that gets in the way of looking after myself as much as I should. I may own all the beauty products in the world but when it comes to using them I slack off after a couple of uses. This year I aim to take better care of my body and one way I’m contemplating doing that is by making use of some high-tech beauty inventions. 2014 will be the year I embrace the beauty tool.

Let’s take a look at 14 revolutionary beauty tools that could change your body (and your life) this year. Continue Reading

Seafolly 2014 Campaign Camille Rowe

In the mood for some summer fever? I know I am. With beach season in full swing in Australia I can’t help but feel the need to shop for swimsuits despite my dislike for actually wearing them. Nevertheless, it is the swimsuit brands that produce these tantalizing summer snaps and I’ve been lucky enough to grab some behind the scenes takes from Seafolly’s latest shoot for their 2014 Preview Collection, as well as the beauty look!

The shoot took place at Bondi Beach (my childhood local beach) and stars the stunning French-American model, Camille Rowe. If you think her face looks rather familiar you may recognize her from the Dior Homme campaign alongside Robert Pattinson. Hair and makeup was done by Sarah Tanner using a range of luxe beauty brands. Continue Reading

Female Hair Loss Before and After

Female hair loss and hair thinning are a growing sector within the beauty market. I used to think female hair loss was a beauty issue and as such could be treated with beauty products. Self-inflicted hair loss is my most common concern. I blamed my tight braids, hair irons and chemical damage. However, the fact remains that the leading causes for female hair loss are health related.

When my normal amount of hair fall dramatically increased, with noticeable receding of my hairline, I panicked. I didn’t know where to begin with treating it but I couldn’t understand why it was happening. I’d stop styling my hair in tight do’s, I rarely heat style and I haven’t dyed my hair in almost 2 years. I ruled out self-inflicted hair loss so I went straight to my GP (doctor) to ask for advice. It turns out that my female hair loss was completely reversible for less than $20!  Continue Reading

Beauty blogger Kimberly Nissen of The Plastic Diaries reviews Trefiel Lace Face Mask, Moisturising sheet mask skincare.

If you follow beauty on Instagram it’s highly likely you’ve seen the Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask. They look like a piece of black lace, often seen adorning the faces of cute beauty influencers. What they actually are is a range of sheet masks. Really pretty sheet masks.

The Trefiel Lace Sheet Mask is available in four formulations – Moisturising, Brightening, Repairing and Toning. Trefiel initially launched with just the Moisturising mask but later rebranded and added 3 more masks to the line-up. I chose to review their original Moisturising Face Mask.  Continue Reading
